The Department of Energy awarded oil sales contracts ahead of the summer and distributes 42 million gallons of gasoline to keep prices from surging.
Recently, the Department of Energy (DOE) approved its annual bump in summer gas supplies this past week, awarding the sale of 1 million barrels of oil to five of America’s top petroleum companies.
Driving in the United States spikes every summer, with families celebrating national holidays and going on vacations across the country. In order to keep gas prices from spiking with this demand, the federal government releases a portion of its strategic gasoline supplies to oil companies, maintaining more consistent gas prices throughout the year.
“The Biden-Harris Administration continues to take strategic action to lower prices for American consumers in every aspect of their lives— especially as summer driving season ramps up,” said Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. “We are ensuring sufficient supply flows to the Northeast at a time hardworking Americans need it the most.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Jennifer Granholm as she manages America’s energy resources.
- That this strategic release in gasoline allows Americans to more thoroughly enjoy their summer vacations
- That the work of the president’s administration helps U.S. citizens live their lives with less worry.
